Ball valves (sometimes called "Vented Compressors" by an alternate name), are a popular item on many construction sites. As a result they have many different accessories that make them useful in a variety of applications. This includes the addition of a pressure relief valve, which is necessary for regulating the flow of pressurized gases. There are other types of ball valve accessories, and one such example is a "camlock coupling."
A camlock coupling is used when the ball valve's seal is not sealed and is subjected to external pressures. There are several common reasons for an external pressure change, and they all have to do with the design and operation of the valves themselves. The most basic of these changes is thermal expansion, or thermal stresses. For instance, when a chemical is placed in a tank of fuel at room temperature, it will expand until it reaches its breaking point. If the seal between the block and the valve fails, there will be internal pressure inside of the cryogenic processing lines. If the internal pressure rises, this pressure will burst through the valve, damaging the machinery, appliances, or human tissue located inside of the lines. leaks will then occur, compromising the productivity of any production processes that rely on these lines. This is why it is so important to have an efficient leak control valve system to prevent this type of catastrophic event from occurring in the first place.
There are many other types of applications in which a vented ball valve may be of help. For example, if the manufacturing of certain products requires extremely low temperatures to produce a certain type of material, it is necessary for a safe way to reduce external pressure in order to ensure that the materials are properly cooled, which prevents damage to the finished product during processing. Leaks can easily occur when a manufacturing process requires the presence of highly compressed air or extremely low temperatures. In some instances, when the presence of these pressures is unavoidable, it may be easiest to have a venting system installed instead of an air compression system. Air cooling systems utilize a venting system to ensure that any leakage of compressed air or low temperatures is eliminated before these unwanted pressures become a problem within the manufacturing facility.
